That is thin in my opinion. I believe there is a requirement for
cetificated aircraft, that the fuselage behind the firewall, (boot cowl)
for 18", also be metal covered. I will be doing this.
I found beautiful sheet stainless at a local HVAC shop. This metal is
usually sold by the pound. It was a company that specialized in large
buildings, so they custom fabbed a lot of ducting. They also had 12 FOOT
long bending brakes, and said I was welcome to bring work in. Have you
checked AC 43.13? I keep my copy out in the shop, not by the computer, or
I would've  looked  it up for you.
